So, I finally asked for my own Wise and Otherwise game, and we played it Friday night at Alan's! And it was very good fun- and everyone else really enjoyed it, so I have high hopes we will play it more. It always makes me glad when people enjoy something that I suggested. And when I see that I've grown enough to know how to recommend something without freaking people out about it either...
The name of the blog comes from one of my creations that fooled 4 people- who were all extremely embarrassed, especially Alan and Bryan. Haha!
Everyone is finally coming back to campus, and I'm definitely feeling a "seeing a bunch of friends rush." I've been in a really good, hyper mood all day, basically. I love it when people come back.
On a more philosophical note, the other day right before I got in the shower, Taylor Swifts "Love Story" came on my wake-up mix, so I spent the shower thinking about one of the lyrics- "I love you and that's all I really know."
This is an odd sentiment, I think. Recently I rewatched seasons 6 and 7 of Boy Meets World, and Cory mentions something in his written vows (I have a thing against self-written vows, I think, because we never promise the hard stuff) about how he hasn't known much growing up, but he's always known that he loves Topanga. What does the mean? I love you and that's all I know. I don't think that's a very attractive statement. I want someone who actually knows what love means, knows what they're getting into. Knows that sometimes the love isn't going to come as easily as it might be coming in this moment. It sounds all romantic, but really, it's only skin deep. Love isn't just a feeling, it's a choice, a decision, something you have to recommit to daily. I mean, it's got all the good fuzzys too, but not all the time I don't think. And that's something you need to be aware of. "All I know is that I love you" sounds like all you know is that you have this overwhelming feeling currently.
It kind of reminds me of when my dad told me mom that he thought he was falling in love with her, and she kind of freaked out, because she didn't like saying it like that, because 1- it sounded like something that you're completely not in control of, alluding to the fact that just like you're falling in love, you might just fall out of love, and you don't really know why you feel that way or if it's going to last, you just know that currently you feel that way. and 2- love was a word she didn't think you should be sharing unless you were closer to thinking about marriage. It's not just something to throw around like it's not a big deal. It's not something you say one day and then decide the next you don't feel anymore.
Anyway... I was just thinking about that and felt like sharing that. Maybe you have your own thoughts on Love? I know I still don't know that much.
Weird, I'm going to have to go to class on Monday...

RA Training
So, I've now been back at school for a little more than a week for RA training- woohoo! I must admit I always like getting back and getting settled before everyone else shows up- it's a nice special treat.
This year is different from most years, 1- because I actually got to move into my physical, permanent room when I arrived instead of temporary housing and 2- that physical, permanent room was not located in Vail.
*GASP* Shock! I am no longer a central campus resident! Though most people only spend a year in sweet Lena Vail Hall (i'm still holding out hope for a daughter named Lena Vail... you've got to admit it's a cute name!), I have finally moved on. My new permanent ("ish") residence is in the Woods. Evergreen to be exact. It's quite exciting, actually to be in a new room. I get to put my furniture in new places, and I have a bathroom, and a huge closet, two huge desks and two huge dressers. And I had to figure out where I was going to put everything, since it's all, you know, different. Most everything is unpacked. All that is really left is figuring out where I'm going to put all my posters. And figuring out if they sell tension rods that are 8 ft long.
I spent over an hour in Target buying things, but I think I need to go back and return stuff and get some different stuff still... I bought a real laundry basket (well, plastic, not wooden, small sacrifice) because somehow I find that it makes doing laundry more romantic. Don't ask, I know I'm weird...
It's kind of nice not having to hike myself up into bed every night... though I'm afraid the nightmares about the top bunk bed falling and crushing me in the middle of the night might return.
But anyway...
Life in the Woods has been good so far. I like the RA staff a lot so far over here- a lot of new people, some old. All great. It's nice to have a little change of pace. Plus, I actually already know some people who'll be on my hall! Sweet!
I've been watching Buffy seasons, because my brother lent them to me. (watched the 3rd season first, now i'm going back to the first). Buffy has taught me lots of important things like: Never find yourself alone in the locker room. and If creepy music is playing, something bad is probably about to happen. and most importantly, If someone new randomly shows up, you should be sure to do a background check, because they might be a vampire, or a demon, or someone trying to become a demon. And that's something that's better to find out sooner than later.
We had Behind Closed Doors today, my favorite part of training, where we get to act out different scenarios that might happen, and the newbies have to handle the situation. Jessica Donovan and I were having a roommate conflict and we went at it! I had a definite adrenaline rush, and now I'm starting to feel the crash- definitely takes a lot of energy to have a yelling match 9 different times (not including the warm up matches...)
Mainly, I can't wait for everyone else to get back, because I miss you all! Looking forward to seeing you soon. :)

"The Google Game"
So, I'm posting again, because I'm playing what I've decided to call The Google Game- something my brother Jimmy introduced me to.
How it works: you type in a word or a few words into google, and see what it recommends based on popular previous searches. I think it is highly revealing of what our culture is most concerned, interested, or confused about...
For instance:
Why...
Why is the sky blue?
Why do men have nipples?
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Why did Chris Brown (insert verb or lack there of) Rihanna?
Why do men cheat?
Why did I get married?
How...
How to tie a tie
How I met your mother
How stuff works
How to kiss
How to get pregnant
How to loose weight
Who is...
Who is my congressman?
Who is my senator?
Who is Robert Pattinson dating?
Who is ip?
What...
What is twitter?
What is my ip?
What is love?
What is a good credit score?
When...
When is easter?
When is the superbowl?
When does Twilight come out on DVD?
When will I die?
When will the world end?
(refining to when will...)
When will the recession end?
When will the economy get better?
When will I get married?
Where...
Where is my refund?
Where does the vice president live?
(refining to where is)
Where is chuck norris?
Where is dubai?
Where is your appendix?
(refining to where does)
Where does robert pattinson live?
Where does miley cirus live?
Where does snot come from?
Where does oil come from?
Where does wind come from?
We are obviously very curious... do you think we've all found what we're looking for?
I highly recommend opening good ol' Google up and typing in some of your own prompts. It can be highly amusing.

Summer Lessons
Well, my summer is officially drawing to a close. I feel like most of my friends know that I haven't been a huge fan of the college summer years. So I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy that my last one is ending. It is a little weird to think that this might've been my last true "summer vacation" ever. Or, at least for a while. I suppose when I one day have a family, I'll experience summer vacation from a parent's point of view...
But anyway, as I was saying, I'm not a huge fan of college summer breaks. I hate being separated from all my friends for months, and especially separated from my main christian circle and support group. I feel like summer has often turned into some weird "life on pause" moment, and I always wish I could unpause and move on with life.
Probably, this reflects back to various issues I have with not living where I am, but wanting to live in the future, the yet to come. I obviously need to work on focusing on the present, being where God has put me Right Now. Today.
This summer has in some ways been very similar to those past- days spent lazing around the house and enjoying it. Days spend lazing around the house and wishing I had something more exciting to do. Picking up "projects" to keep my occupied. Monopolizing facebook messages with friends because I'm longing to talk to someone.
But I feel like God has taught me something this summer. Not one that I haven't already learned, probably, but one that seems to be repeated in all of the things that have occurred.
The Lord will provide.
He provides money and cheaper repairs when you need it.
He provides various things to fill days that I thought wouldn't be filled.
He provides patience when dealing with authority-testing children.
He provides words when trying to teach said children about his love.
He provides bikes and people to take the bikes to school.
He has provided in everything. Big and small.
He provides. And He will continue to provide. I hope that this is something I don't forget when I get caught up in the next semester- wondering if I will have time to do everything that needs to be done, or energy to get through it all (hah, like I would be at a lack for energy!). There are definitely things that I'm worrying about going into this new school year- my responsibilities as choir president, my responsibilities as an RA, school, boards, life after college. But I know that in all things, God will provide everything that is needed. Maybe not more, but never less.
I hope you remember this as well as you start your new year. :)
On a side note, I'm currently being re-amazed at how awesome Brooke Fraser is. Check her out if you haven't already.
Oh, and the song count on piano? 4. ish. I know all the notes for 4- but it's still a little rougher on 1.5 of them. 3 are from Amelie. I do love Amelie.
