RA Training

So, I've now been back at school for a little more than a week for RA training- woohoo! I must admit I always like getting back and getting settled before everyone else shows up- it's a nice special treat.

This year is different from most years, 1- because I actually got to move into my physical, permanent room when I arrived instead of temporary housing and 2- that physical, permanent room was not located in Vail.

*GASP* Shock! I am no longer a central campus resident! Though most people only spend a year in sweet Lena Vail Hall (i'm still holding out hope for a daughter named Lena Vail... you've got to admit it's a cute name!), I have finally moved on. My new permanent ("ish") residence is in the Woods. Evergreen to be exact. It's quite exciting, actually to be in a new room. I get to put my furniture in new places, and I have a bathroom, and a huge closet, two huge desks and two huge dressers. And I had to figure out where I was going to put everything, since it's all, you know, different. Most everything is unpacked. All that is really left is figuring out where I'm going to put all my posters. And figuring out if they sell tension rods that are 8 ft long.

I spent over an hour in Target buying things, but I think I need to go back and return stuff and get some different stuff still... I bought a real laundry basket (well, plastic, not wooden, small sacrifice) because somehow I find that it makes doing laundry more romantic. Don't ask, I know I'm weird...

It's kind of nice not having to hike myself up into bed every night... though I'm afraid the nightmares about the top bunk bed falling and crushing me in the middle of the night might return.

But anyway...

Life in the Woods has been good so far. I like the RA staff a lot so far over here- a lot of new people, some old. All great. It's nice to have a little change of pace. Plus, I actually already know some people who'll be on my hall! Sweet!

I've been watching Buffy seasons, because my brother lent them to me. (watched the 3rd season first, now i'm going back to the first). Buffy has taught me lots of important things like: Never find yourself alone in the locker room. and If creepy music is playing, something bad is probably about to happen. and most importantly, If someone new randomly shows up, you should be sure to do a background check, because they might be a vampire, or a demon, or someone trying to become a demon. And that's something that's better to find out sooner than later.

We had Behind Closed Doors today, my favorite part of training, where we get to act out different scenarios that might happen, and the newbies have to handle the situation. Jessica Donovan and I were having a roommate conflict and we went at it! I had a definite adrenaline rush, and now I'm starting to feel the crash- definitely takes a lot of energy to have a yelling match 9 different times (not including the warm up matches...)

Mainly, I can't wait for everyone else to get back, because I miss you all! Looking forward to seeing you soon. :)
