There's a reason I have unofficial ideas instead of resolutions. No post in February should have been no surprise to anyone. I really think there was one period in life where I was actually good at blogging regularly. Instead of a blog in February, I did share two vlogs on my youtube during the month, which can also be viewed here:
In my head, I have other vlog ideas I would like to bring to fruition, but in real life I'm countered with a few obstacles- 1, finding the time to film and edit them (without waking up sleeping roommmates) and 2, I think I might actually be bad at vlogging. I am, though, considering maybe trying to do VEDA (vlog every day in april) just to get some practice? Thoughts? Since April opens in the middle of a stretch of work... that may not actually happen... but who knows. I might try.
But here I am, getting in a March update, so go me! Time seems to be escaping me- I really can't believe March is already practically over. I sincerely feel like the year just started. Without the usual time guideposts of classes, midterms, etc. the movement of time is much harder to gauge.
What have I been up to? Still working, still enjoying it; every now and then I have really sweet patients and families who give me such wonderful words of encouragement. This can carry me through many a night that is less than enjoyable.
I've still been teaching sunday school once a month, starting to get to know the kids better, which is exciting. Also, I've been tutoring on wednesdays (I'm getting ready to leave for that any minute now.) It's worked quite well into my schedule, actually, which is awesome, and I've been mainly working every week with one girl named Kaylee who is really good at math, but struggles with her reading. She always tries to get me to let her work on math problems instead, and I've come to realize tutoring in reading is like... trying to get somewhere with no map. Math has lock and key formulas that don't change and will always be true and you just have to put in a way kids understand. Reading? Reading just... happens. How does it happen? But it's been fun, and I've enjoyed building a relationship with Kaylee as I see her every week.
I've also joined a knitting group that meets Tuesday nights. It's mainly women in their later 20s/30s and a few in their 50s/60s but I enjoy the time, and it's a nice new outlet, plus some of these women *really* know how to knit. I feel like I could attempt something wild and crazy and I might actually be able to do it, because they could help me if I get stuck. And it's a nice change from my normal knitting environment (middle of the night, just me, a movie, and some yarn and needles). I have two big knitting projects coming up once I finish this one project for that resolution gift thing I'm doing (The first of.... 5? With these other two projects come up, I'm not 100% sure when I'll start and finish my other ones, but I WILL do them, eventually... hopefully by the end of the year? maybe? with the rate time is escaping from me, I'm less than confident...)
Also, I am currently looking for a place to relocate in East Nashville. Even though I absolutely detest the act of moving, I am looking forward to this move; I will be a lot closer to everyone at church, so I think it will have a positive influence on getting more connected there. However, I'm still working on getting the with who/where actually nailed down. I do have a projected move date in mind, because I'll have some family in town, so right now I'm just praying that God will provide all the other details needed to make that actually happen.
Well, I need to run to tutoring, and then work. Hope you've enjoyed this brief update of life!
